Digital MEMS Microphone Unit was developed.

Most of the signals in recent small information terminal equipment like mobile phones, digital cameras and video cameras have been digitalized. Microphones (Audio signals) are analog output generally, but Hosiden recently succeeded in developing high-SNR, reverse sound port type Digital MEMS Microphone Unit. This new product will contribute to the digitization of audio signals, which will be adopted furthermore from now on.

Typical Features

  • Compatible with Lead-free reflow-soldering.
  • Omni-directional type.
  • High SNR (62 dB typ.).
  • Digitalizing the signals reduces the influence of inductive noises; etc. and makes it easier to design the board pattern /to wire around the microphone.
  • PDM (pulse density modulation) output with a high sound quality and high power, using a fourth-order Σ-Δ modulator.
  • 5-pin configuration (Data [Output], Vdd [Power Supply], Clk [Clock], Sel [Select], and GND)
  • Enabling two channel audio signals to be processed in one port, by using two of this microphone unit and combining the connection of Sel pin to Vdd and GND.
  • Sleep mode, which reduces the power consumption in a standby mode of mobile phones; etc. (When Clk frequency falls below 1kHz, current consumption is less than 50 μA.)
  • Reverse sound port type, locating the sound port on the board side of the microphone unit, enabling to downsize the space between the board and housing of the main body of equipment by the thickness of the microphone unit. It contributes to the thinning of equipment.
